Makeup Application Tips

Let me ask you guys first: Are You Applying Makeup in the Right Order? well..... i guess some of you know but for my pals and client that ask me this, the below order of applying your makeup is stated with details. Cheers

There is a natural order to accomplishing most anything in life: Love, marriage, baby in a carriage. High school, college, job (if you’re lucky). But some things, like putting on a fresh face of makeup, are a little more complicated as you all know.

What do you do first: Apply lipstick or focus on eyes? Where does blush come in? Can you get away with putting liner on after mascara? while researching on line on this post, i stumbled on Cristina Bartolucci, NYX’s chief creative director and co-founder of DuWop, who gave us her formula for putting together a perfect face. Of course, not everyone will use all steps, but even if you skip the concealer/foundation or cheeks, this is a still a good working order to follow!

1: Primer or Moisturizer

“Choose one, not both,” Bartolucci says. “Moisturizer, no matter how light in texture, will interfere with the function of a primer.” Also, always remember to get in your sunscreen, whether SPF is built into your primer, moisturizer, or foundation.

2: Foundation

I do not believe in doing the eyes first to avoid smearing and falling out, not that fallout is bound to happen when you are using eye shadow. Also when product falls onto bare skin, the pigment can be even harder to remove, so its advisable to apply your foundation before your eyeshadow and all since it also serves as your second skin. It’s better to create a canvas with the foundation and then correct any mistakes as a finishing touch.”

 3: Concealer

Here is where you look at your face with a critical eye after applying your second skin foundation and add concealer sparingly onto those dark circles or blemishes eye bags. "You want to wait until after the foundation because foundation will do a lot of the job for you." Bartolucci says.

4: Powder

Set it all with a very light dusting of translucent powder. This will help make it easier to remove fallout from eye shadow and give the base time to settle in while you apply the rest of your makeup.

 5: Eyes or lips

“I like to mix them up,” says Bartolucci. After the face, I usually do the eyes first, but sometimes I’ll start with the lips because it gives me time to think about what I really want to do on the eyes.

For Eyes: shadow > liner > then mascara. This is the order Bartolucci follows for applying eye makeup. “But always go back and layer,” she suggests. Add a little more liner at the lash line, an extra pop of shimmer shadow in the center of the lid to get an outstanding eye pop.

Eyeshadow Palette

For Lips: balm > liner > lipstick > then gloss. Bartolucci suggests smudging liner all over your lips and rubbing it in with fingertips before applying lipstick. And of course, use gloss only if you want!

6: Cheeks

I do the cheeks last for two reasons. One, it ties the eyes and lips together. Two, if you’re using a powder, you can sweep it across the lids after the eye makeup is done to add an extra pop. sometimes i apply the blush before the powder to derive something i call contour effect, which adds beautiful colorful blend to your makeup.

STEPS TO A PERFECT EYEBROW

EYEBROW SHAPING

According to  your face and eye shape eyebrows will vary in size, shape and thickness, however there is a general shaping rule that applies for everyone.

A- Is the beginning of the eyebrow, if you were to draw a straight line it will be in line with the inner corner of your eye.

B- Is the highest part of the eyebrow or what is known as the arch. Looking forward you should envisage a slight diagonal line from the centre of your pupil and where the line meets the brow that should be where the highest part of the eyebrow is.

C- Is the end of the eyebrow, again imagining a line but this time from the bottom sides of your nostrils. (if it is easier use a ruler to mark all the three points and proceed with the shaping from there.

Great eyebrows

Eyebrows shape and frame your face.
Enjoy them.

Tips If plucking:

-Don't remove to much.

-Pluck one at a time.

-Pluck in the direction of hair growth or new growth might stick out.

-Remove stray hairs every 2-4 days as needed.

DIY: 5 Steps To The Perfect Facial

All facials are pampering…but don’t mistake all facials for just fluff! I discovered most ladies are not keen because they feel its a waste of time which is the secret to a young radiant feel on the face.  A professional facial can actually change your skin and reduce acne, reduce wrinkles and slow down the aging process giving you a gorgeous, healthy glow.

Here,  am giving you some steps that you need to take on a daily basis to maintain the health of our skin including staying hydrated and getting adequate sleep. And if you take these steps along with maintenance professional facials aging can be very graceful! Facials will encourage hydration, exfoliate dead skin, decrease impurities and even skin tone and texture. Below are five essential steps to a facial:

Cleanse: This comes first with any brand of facial cleanser/ face wash which depend on your skin type, you will prep your skin with a double cleanse to create a clean canvas.

Exfoliate:  Next, steam will be used to open up the pores (A little amount of hot water and a socked wash cloth/towel will do).A treatment is then applied to the skin that will exfoliate, release congestion and clarify and brighten the skin. This may be an Enzyme treatment, Vitamin C or a Glycolic Acid, depending on your skin type.Acids help aid in exfoliation…which is key to glowing skin.Exfoliating the top layer of skin helps to reveal younger skin, as new skin cells are created in the dermis.treatment for you to stimulate collagen and slough off the top layer of the skin. This treatment blasts tiny crystals onto your skin to exfoliate, reduce fine lines and lighten skin discolorations.

A Bowl of Hot Water and a Towel for Steaming
         St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Massage:  Then, you give yourself  a heavenly facial massage and / or acupressure which stimulates your skin, encouraging blood flow and lymphatic drainage. This is the point you pamper yourself without spending a fortune but for your Professional Pampering contact me *winks*

Mask:  A mask is applied to the skin which will stay on for approximately 10 minutes. Depending on your skin type, your aesthetician will choose from a hydrating mask, clay based pore-minimizing and tightening mask, or a soothing mask to reduce redness.During this time, make sure you wrap your hands in paraffin and massage your face and neck without getting to the sensitive areas such as eye socket to prevent quick ageing, eye bag and wrinkles.

      DIY: My Retro Fab Nails

I figured this would be a great time to breakout my luv for colorful nails.
Retro Fab is what i luv to call it because of the Vintage effect it has on me. (hope u guys agree wiv that)

Retro Fab is a glossy shade of green from CR Classic Fashion.

In the pictures above, I'm wearing two coats and as you can tell I got really good  coverage.   As i said, I love this shade, I think it looks nice against my chocolate skin ;-)
Its sure great for edgy shades you want to try out but will not wear often.
The bush is a little flatter and wider for a vintage nail polish brush; I like this as it saves application time.

So have any of you tried it? let me know by leaving a comment below.
Make sure you DO IT Yourself! and tell me how many compliments you got.

      Radiant Eye Makeup Tips:

If you want to make a real statement with your glimpse you should go for radiant eye. Try the following tips to get your desired look. Use light hues of eye shadows as they give eye-popping and attractive appearance. Apply the enlightening shade over your lids and then put on dark shade only on the outside corners of eyes; it will make you look much more glamorous. Avoid using a deep and profound hue in the crease; it will give a closing rather than opening effect.
Use Appropriate Applicator: Use an appropriate makeup applicator which, you think, can give you the exact impression you want to create. If you want to give a dramatic touch to your makeup then you should use sponge; and for having a natural look makeup you should use a brush applicator.
Use Makeup to Hide Tired Eyes: The working women usually don’t find enough time to take rest because of their busy routine. Tired eyes due to the lack of proper sleep results in the creation of an unaesthetic effect. While preparing for any event, you can hide tired eyes using makeup. For this purpose you should opt for light hues of eye shadow. Apply these shades for tinting your eyelids and creating a healthy look. Don’t tint the lower lash line; it will make the inflated section of your eyes more prominent.
